Victoria Whale Watching Adventures |
The waters around Victoria are world famous for whale watching. Orcas or Killer whales as well as the large Gray, Humpback and Minke whales frequent both the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Haro Strait, which separate Southern Vancouver Island from the San Juan Islands on the American side.
Other marine life found on these trips can include the Steller Sea Lion, California Sea Lion, Harbour Seal, Dall's Porpoise and Sea Otters, in addition to a wide variety of birds including bald eagles and great blue herons
All whale and marine wildlife vessels are licensed under strict Canadian Coast Guard regulations and are operated by professionally trained skippers and captains who are Transport Canada Safety Certified. Most vessels have private washrooms and are equipped with lifejackets and, in some cases, when riding in a zodiac, covered vessel, scarab or a catamaran, include a government approved full-length cruiser suit for your comfort
Each of our Victoria whale watching tour operators offers a biologist/naturalist on every trip, and most include underwater hydrophones so that you can listen to the whales.
Most trips are three (3) hours in length but could vary depending upon the weather, the season and location of the whales.
Whale watching season generally runs from mid April through mid October and 2 hour birding and wildlife tours are available October to April. | Zodiacs | | - Fun & Exhilarating ride
